Description

Photo of three planes that flew in the 1929 Women's Air Derby at the Paul Cox Air Field in Terre Haute, Indiana. The race began in Santa Monica, California on August 18 and ended in Cleveland, Ohio nine days later. There were eighteen women pilots in the heavy class and six pilots in the lighter weight class. The race is also known as the Powder Puff Derby thanks to humorist Will Rogers.
