Pictured on the left is German first women pilot Thea Rasche and on the right is Ruth Elder. The two are taking a break from their flying at Paul Cox Airfield in Terre Haute, Indiana on August 25, 1929. Rasche's total elapsed time for the race that stretched from Santa Monica, California to Cleveland, Ohio was 31 hours, 8 minutes, and 55 seconds. Rasche flew a Gypsy Moth #61.
